Driscoll Research Group

I am a materials scientist who is interested in synthesising functional thin films with tunable, complex nanostructures. I have extensive experience in growing various thin films by magnetron sputtering, and in particular, high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) that offers many possibilities to precisely engineer and control nanostructures and properties. I also work with characterisation tools such as XPS, ion beam analysis techniques (ERDA, RBS, and PIXE), TEM, FIB, and X-rays techniques. My research currently concentrates on the development of oxide thin films grown by magnetron sputtering for memory applications.
