Dr Babak Bakhit gave an invited talk in HiPIMS Today 2024. He discussed the recent advances in high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) and the advantages of growing strategic and functional thin films by hybrid HiPIMS/DC magnetron co-sputtering using synchronised metal-ion irradiation. This advanced sputtering technique can provide significant possibilities to precisely tune the nanostructures and properties of thin films and to achieve metastable phases.
