We are pleased that a highly interdisciplinary piece of work across several departments/ institutions has led to a press release. The work used simply processed photovoltaic materials to harvest indoor light to power a simple electronic device. The work is important to the IoT field.

Printed coatings enable more efficient solar cells

Researchers at Cambridge, Imperial and Singapore have developed a method to print ultrathin coatings on next-generation solar cells, allowing them to work in tandem with silicon solar cells to boost efficiencies.
Tuhin becomes an Assistant Professor

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Tuhin Maity has now taken up an Assistant Professor position at the IISER Thiruvananthapuram in India, after very successfully completing his EU H2020 MC fellowship (Grant no. MSCA-IF-2016-745886-MuStMAM) with additional kind sponsorship from the Isaac Newton Trust (Grant no. RG96474). We are thankful to the sponsors and are very happy to keep up our excellent collaboration with Tuhin in the future.
Congradulations Dr Bonan Zhu

We congratulate Bonan Zhu who passed his Phd viva. Bonan will continue to collaborate with us on cathode materials for solid state batteries on a Faraday Project called FutureCat. His postdoc work is with David Scanlon at UCL. We look forward to welcoming Bonan back to the group so we can all celebrate together

The Driscoll group is very grateful indeed to an alumnus of the department, Dr. Bill Welland, for his generous recent donation to our research group. We are really sorry that our summer meeting with Dr. Welland won’t now be able to take place, but we hope to meet him later in the year.
