REBCO thin film superconductors
Driscoll Research Group
My primary research interest is on high temperature thin film superconductors; particularly using rare earth barium copper oxides (REBCO). The main aims on developing the REBCO thin films are on increasing the performance of the REBCO films and decreasing its cost of production. I am working on improving the pinning properties of REBCO films to increase the current carrying abilities in magnetic fields via adding artificial pinning centres and rare-earth mixtures. I am also working on liquid-assisted processing techniques to increase growth rate of REBCO films, which will decrease the cost of production.
The research work is funded by SuNAM CO. Ltd, a company we are collaborating with.
