8-10 May:  Judith was very pleased to welcome to Cambridge Dr. Connie Wang from Applied Materials. We had wide ranging discussions on many energy and electronic topics.

6 May: Many group members were very happy to celebrate King Charles III’s coronation together. We met at Trinity College and toasted the King with champagne, a new special Trinity College Coronation pie and ice cream.

Judith gave an online Distinguished Lecture in China to an audience of around 17500 people. The lecture was organised by Prof. Wei Li at Nankai University.

Many congratulations to Adam Lovett for defending his thesis on solid state batteries using epitaxial thin films. We look forward to seeing great success from Adam in the future!

We were happy to host a wonderful talk from Prof. Venky Venkatesan FRS. We also enjoyed having long talks about memristors, neuromorphic computing and start-ups, and discussing future collaborations.

It was great to visit Prof. Robert Hoye, a new academic in Oxford Inorganic Chemical lab, and former PhD student in our group. His labs are looking amazing, and his group is already being highly productive. We discussed our ongoing collaborations on BiOI and spatial ALD, among other things. 

On Monday, Dr Adnan Mehonic, lecturer at UCL and long-standing collaborator, visited us to discuss different research projects and see our new sputtering system at CAPE. Adnan is always a great visit and we created many new ideas!In the picture, from left to right, Babak, Judith, Markus, Adnan.
